Some interesting disruptive incidents and events impacting supply chain recently - these have or will lead to complicated and voluminous claims activity, data management challenges and financial damages measurement - using the right tools and people to manage such situations is key. There are many things to be handled in these situations, but the expectation is that these issues will be dealt with quickly and efficiently. Meeting todays digital expectations is easier said than done, unless the right mix of people and technology is deployed - read morehttps://lnkd.in/epTCkjZW

As the situation around the Change Healthcare ransomware attack continues to develop, the impact and implications are starting to be seen. It's clear this is having a widespread impact on many in the healthcare sector, but what is not yet clear is the scale and nature of the financial impact. With significant experience in the consequential financial damages that stem from such cyber events, through our Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services team (FLVS), Baker Tilly is well positioned, and already assisting clients as they determine how it may impact them. Additionally, we have significant experience to draw on from within our Healthcare Practice. The current financial focus is around cash flow pressures with regulators calling on United Health, as well urging the insurance community and other payors to respond to this event. The Power of the Team What a beautiful day. Didn’t sleep well last night, yet woke up this morning full of energy, optimism, and just generally feeling happy and lucky. It’s been a strange week. I think I realized that if I’m not on top form, it’s ok. I’m surrounded by great team mates in work and life who will pull me through. It’s been a busy year for us so far at Baker Tilly US (FLVS). We’ve hosted conferences, attended, and spoken, generally been out and about in our industry. All accomplished because of various teams pulling together. We’ve also delivered some amazing work to our clients, helping them with their problems. This last month has been no different. A trial, expert testimony, a major litigation milestone, a claims portal, expert reports, new files, slow files, planning for seminars, international colleagues arriving. That’s on the work front. Throw in some birthdays (happy days), two funerals (very sad days), college and school ups and downs….Pause, catch your breath – how is this possible – it’s the power of the team – Everything mentioned above has been handled because a significant number of people pulled together. Some of the effort is very visible with people stepping in, some is less visible, behind the scenes – almost unnoticed. Even the smallest gesture, “I’m grabbing coffee, want anything?”In a world where it increasingly feels like the individual brand and success is key, it’s worth pausing for a moment and thinking about our accomplishments and how the outcomes have depended on several people, rarely an individual performance. So I’m going to thank some people in no particular order as we head to the weekend. - work colleagues and life colleagues.I encourage you to thank someone in your team. I’m certain I’ll miss someone, probably more than one…but if you’ve had a team’s chat, text, phone or email conversation with me in the last few weeks – THANK YOU SO MUCH!Brendan Gray, MBA, CPA – thanks for managing a growing case load.Harriet Bateman, ACA – thanks for your forward thinking for client management, client service.Thomas Murphy – support during an on, off, on, off trial this week.
