Origins of Civilization

How did the great civilizations of the world develop? How did humanity first develop the very things we all now take for granted – agriculture, religion, architecture, weaponry, political and social hierarchy, trade and eventually written language. This course examines the birth of complex societies, starting with village life and domestication in the fertile valleys of the Near East, during the Neolithic era c. 12,000-6,000 BC. For thousands of years before the great empires of Mesopotamia, Egypt and Greece emerged, sophisticated societies flourished at places like Gobekli Tepe, Çatalhöyük, and Jericho with advanced technological skills and elaborate social networks. Using the latest scientific and archaeological research, we will explore how these societies domesticated plants and animals, and how humans were domesticated through religious practices, architecture and adopting a sedentary lifestyle. This course traces the development of civilization from the Neolithic through the Bronze Age, ending at the dawn of the Mesopotamian empire. This course will explore the archaeology throughout Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Israel and Jordan.

According to the author, a plurality of civilizations is generally accepted; in civilization, one can see the foundations for the functioning of law, politics, social life, and family life; civilization also plays an essential role in the religious life of man, just as religion plays a role in civilization. The author discusses the following topics: the biological theory of civilization, the historical theory of civilization, the sociological theory of civilization, the political-science theory of civilization, the civilization of death and the civilization of love, and the historical-philosophical theory of civilization.

Sinyukov B. Turbiner A. Civilization-cause and effect. New concept. Abstract: I believe in the laws of nature and logic. The rest can easily turn out to be a lie. Insects, the ancient inhabitants of the Earth, have all the signs of human civilization-society, responsibility, self-sacrifice and mutual assistance, bordering on selfishness, a monogamous family and polygamy, caring for offspring and carelessness. All this is in the human genome from the very beginning, the rest is up to a random choice of history in each individual tribe. But a random choice by all the tribes of the Earth, strictly in the same direction, is impossible. This means that there was a driving force that guided the human race along the path chosen by this force and prevented other possibilities.
