Imagine your adventure just like the pioneers, gold diggers, trappers or intrepid reporters. Welcome to The Land of the Cold.

Meet penguins, walruses, polar bears and the magnificent Siberian tiger. There are buffalo close by, and if lucky come across some prancing mustangs.

On foot, on horseback or even by hydroplane, we set off to explore these vast regions, kingdoms of ice, arctic tundra, wetlands and dark pine woods. The scene is set for you to play out the heroic stories of your childhood.

  • One of the largest carnivores on landPolar bear

    The Polar Bear is one of the largest land carnivores on land, along with the Kodiak Bear and the Elephant Seal: a large male can become 2 to 3 m long and weigh up to 800 kg. Females are smaller.

    Its yellowish-white fur is an excellent camouflage in its world of ice and snow: it also protects it from the cold thanks to a thick layer of fat.

    After the elephant seal, the walrus is the largest marine mammal, measuring over 3m50 and with large males weighing almost 2 tonnes. It is found along the shores bordering the Arctic Ocean, in herds which can include thousands of animals, overseen by a few dominant males.

    The raccoon is a carnivorous mammal that eats everything! Insects, worms and larvae; small aquatic animals, shellfish, fish, frogs; small mammals such as musk-rats and mice. While adding to its ordinary diet and in season: maize, berries and fruits, seeds, acorns and nuts.

    This cervid of the Arctic Regions is called Reindeer in Europe and Caribou in Quebec.

    A robust animal,able to survive in freezing cold, the Reindeer can weigh up to 100 kg. Thanks to its wide hooves, it can easily walk in snow or on muddy ground when thawed. It is also anexcellent swimmer.

Lunch at the Mökki promises to be an unforgettable taste experience, because local and seasonal products are creatively prepared and elegantly served.

At lunchtime you can enjoy a 2 or 3 course lunch of refined dishes.

Please note that the Mökki function as first come, first served for lunch, without reservations, in the evening dinner is only open to visitors upon reservation.

The Restaurant has the shape of an inverted ship. It’s a true masterpiece of craftsmanship and a true reflection of the traditional ‘stavkirke’, typical medieval wooden churches from Norway.

This beautiful carved wooden structure, inspired by Russian architecture, serves as a cozy restaurant.
